Ordering & Installation Advice

Step 1 – Choose your light colour: Select 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white or 6500K daylight white.

Step 2 – Choose your pack length: Select 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m or 50m. We supply the corresponding LED strip quantity, matching 24V power supplies and 2m aluminium profile sections.

Step 3 – Plan your electrical installation: Confirm cable routes, driver locations, feed points, weatherproof terminations and drainage before installation. A 24V constant-voltage supply must be used; do not connect the LED tape directly to 230V mains.

Long runs: As specified for this system, lengths over 20m must be powered from both ends to help minimise voltage drop. Depending on the installation, additional feeds or separate circuits may also be necessary; the electrician must check cable losses, run layout and the permissible continuous tape length.

Recessing the profile: Prepare a flat, stable and properly drained channel with a 26mm recess depth, allowing for the complete profile dimensions, sealing method and substrate. The minimum specified strip bend radius is 30mm. Do not kink the tape or bend it more tightly than recommended.

Cutting and sealing: Cut only at marked 50mm cutting intervals. All cut ends, joins and cable entry points must be resealed using a suitable method to preserve the intended water protection. Installing an IP67 tape in a channel does not in itself make connections, drivers or the entire assembly IP67.

Driver location: Position power supplies in a suitable indoor or otherwise appropriately protected and ventilated location wherever possible. For outdoor locations, choose an enclosure with an appropriate environmental rating and provide suitable thermal management.

Installation and electrical connections should be designed and completed by a suitably qualified electrician, in accordance with applicable UK requirements and the conditions at the installation site.

What is included in the outdoor in-ground LED strip kit?

Each complete pack contains the selected length of IP67 COB LED tape, matching 24V power supplies, recessed aluminium housing supplied in 2m sections, opal diffuser, end caps and basic mounting accessories. External cabling and weatherproof junction boxes may need to be purchased separately.

What does COB LED strip mean?

COB stands for chip on board. The densely arranged LED chips produce a continuous line of light with far less visible spotting than many conventional LED strips. Together with the supplied opal diffuser, this provides an attractive, virtually dot-free architectural lighting finish.

Is the LED tape suitable for outdoor use?

The supplied sealed LED tape is rated IP67, making it suitable for appropriately designed outdoor applications. All cable connections, cut ends, drivers and enclosures must be protected according to their own ratings and the exposure expected on site. Good drainage is especially important for an in-ground recess.

Can this lighting be installed in a driveway?

It can be used for decorative driveway-edge lighting where the profile is suitably positioned and protected. A vehicle load rating has not been provided for this housing; do not assume it can be driven over. Confirm suitability before specifying it for any traffic-bearing surface.

Which colour temperature should I choose?

3000K warm white creates an inviting ambience for gardens and patios. 4000K neutral white provides a balanced, clean appearance for modern landscaping and pathways. 6500K daylight white gives a cooler, crisp effect for contemporary architectural accents and visibility-focused features.

How bright is the LED strip?

Approximate output is 957 lumens per metre at 3000K, 1045 lumens per metre at 4000K and 1056 lumens per metre at 6500K. The tape consumes 11W per metre. Actual installed output will be affected by the diffuser, mounting conditions and system design.

What is CRI 90+?

The colour rendering index indicates how naturally a light source reveals colours. With CRI 90+, this strip is suited to attractive lighting of stone, exterior finishes, landscaping and architectural details.

Can the COB LED tape be cut to length?

Yes. It can be cut at the marked 50mm intervals. Use the designated cut points only, and properly reseal every cut end or connection to maintain suitable environmental protection.

How deep is the recessed aluminium profile?

The specified recess depth is 26mm. The channel has an interior width of 12.6mm and an exterior bottom width of 21mm. Check the full installation detail, substrate and drainage before cutting the recess.

How are the aluminium profiles supplied?

Aluminium housing and diffuser are supplied in 2m sections, with a total length matched to the selected 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m or 50m pack.

Does the kit include the LED drivers?

Yes. Matched 24V LED power supplies are included and are selected for the chosen pack length. Additional electrical materials may be required depending on the installation layout.

How much power does a complete pack use?

At a nominal 11W per metre, the LED tape uses approximately 110W for 10m, 220W for 20m, 330W for 30m, 440W for 40m and 550W for 50m. These figures are total LED tape loads, not a recommendation to power each length as one uninterrupted run. Driver headroom, segmentation and feeds must be designed appropriately.

Do long runs need power from both ends?

Yes. The supplied guidance specifies both-end power feeding for lengths over 20m to limit voltage drop. Your electrician may need additional injection points or separate runs, depending on tape limits, cable lengths and the layout.

Do I need SY cable or a weatherproof junction box?

You may require site-suitable outdoor cable and a weatherproof junction box or enclosure, particularly where drivers or connections are positioned outdoors. SY cable was identified as an optional site-wiring material, but the final cable specification should be selected by the installer for the application.

Can I install the drivers outdoors?

Install drivers indoors or in a suitable protected position where possible. For outdoor locations, use appropriately rated equipment or a properly selected weatherproof enclosure, with ventilation and cable entries designed for the environment.
