Description
24V RGB COB LED Strip Light – Dotless Colour-Changing LED Tape
Create bright, continuous colour-changing illumination with this 24V RGB COB LED strip light. Its high-density COB construction produces a smoother line of light than traditional dotted LED strip, making it suitable for modern residential, retail, commercial and decorative lighting installations.
Choose from 1m, 5m, 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m, 50m or 100m using the variation menu. A compatible 24V RGB controller and 24V DC power supply are required to operate the tape and change its colours, brightness and lighting effects.

Key Features
- Dotless COB lighting: Provides a smoother and more uniform line of light than conventional spaced LED tape.
- RGB colour changing: Select different colours, dim the light and activate effects using a compatible RGB controller.
- 24V operation: Better suited to longer lighting runs than many lower-voltage tape systems when correctly powered.
- Super-bright output: Suitable for decorative feature lighting and illuminated displays.
- Self-adhesive backing: The rear 3M adhesive layer helps secure the tape to a clean, smooth and dry surface.
- Flexible installation: Suitable for straight runs, corners, shelving, coving, furniture and shaped features, subject to the permitted bending direction.
- Multiple length options: Select the required length from the product variation dropdown.
Where Is RGB COB Tape Usually Installed?
RGB COB tape is primarily used where adjustable colour, decorative illumination or visual impact is required. Typical applications include:
- Kitchen plinths, cabinets and display features
- Living-room media walls and television units
- Bedroom headboards, wardrobes and ceiling features
- Ceiling coving and recessed lighting details
- Bars, restaurants, cafés and entertainment areas
- Retail shelving, shop windows and product displays
- Gaming rooms, studios and home cinemas
- Exhibition stands, signage and promotional displays
- Furniture, cabinets and architectural features
Because this is an RGB-only strip, it is best suited to colour-changing and decorative applications. For installations requiring a natural dedicated warm-white task light, select a separate warm-white COB tape or an RGBW product containing an additional white channel.
Install With an Aluminium LED Profile
The tape can be installed directly onto a suitable surface or fitted inside a compatible aluminium LED profile. A profile provides a cleaner, more professional finish and can help protect the tape from contact, dust and accidental damage.
Aluminium also assists with heat dissipation, particularly where the tape is used for extended periods. A compatible diffuser can further soften the visible light and produce a neat finished appearance.

Self-Adhesive 3M Backing
The rear of the LED tape has a self-adhesive 3M backing to make positioning and installation easier. Peel away the protective liner gradually and press the tape firmly onto the prepared surface.
For the strongest adhesion:
- Ensure the mounting surface is smooth, clean, dry and free from grease.
- Remove dust, oil, silicone residue and loose paint before installation.
- Do not repeatedly remove and reposition the tape, as this can weaken the adhesive.
- Use an aluminium profile or additional suitable fixing method in demanding installations.
- Do not rely solely on adhesive when mounting overhead, on rough surfaces or in high-temperature areas.
What Is Required to Operate the RGB COB Tape?
A complete RGB COB strip-light system normally requires:
- 24V RGB COB LED tape in the required length
- Compatible 24V RGB controller to control colours, effects and brightness
- Compatible 24V DC power supply or LED transformer with sufficient wattage
- RGB connectors or suitable cable where the tape is cut, extended or joined
- Aluminium profile and diffuser where a protected professional finish is required

How to Connect the Tape, Controller and Transformer
-
Calculate the total load.
Multiply the tape's wattage per metre by the total installed length. Select a 24V power supply with spare capacity rather than operating it continuously at its maximum stated load. -
Connect the power supply to the RGB controller.
The 24V DC output from the power supply connects to the controller's power-input terminals. Check the positive and negative polarity before switching on. -
Connect the controller to the RGB tape.
Match the common positive and the red, green and blue channel connections correctly. Terminal markings can vary between controllers, so always follow the controller manufacturer's wiring diagram. -
Test the complete system.
Test the tape, controller and power supply before permanently fixing the tape or closing the aluminium profile. -
Fit the tape.
Clean the mounting surface, remove the adhesive backing gradually and press the tape firmly into position without damaging the COB surface or circuit board.
Powering Runs Longer Than 15 Metres
Long LED tape runs can experience voltage drop. This may cause the section furthest from the power connection to appear dimmer or display colours less accurately.
For installations above approximately 15 metres, we recommend using dual-end parallel power feeding or additional power-injection points. This is sometimes described as returning the end of the tape back to the transformer.
The beginning and end of the run should be supplied from the same correctly sized 24V system, with the polarity and RGB channels matched exactly. This helps deliver more even voltage and improved brightness throughout the installation.
Very long installations may need to be divided into several shorter sections with power injected at multiple points. An RGB amplifier or additional controller may also be required where the total load exceeds the output capacity of one controller.
Choosing the Correct Power Supply
Use the following calculation:
Add an appropriate safety margin when choosing the power supply. The power supply and controller must both be rated for the total connected load.
Longer cable distances can also create voltage drop. Use cable with an appropriate conductor size and keep low-voltage cable runs as short as reasonably possible.
Cutting and Joining the LED Tape
Cut the tape only at its designated cutting marks. Cutting elsewhere may damage the circuit and prevent part of the strip from operating.
When reconnecting a cut section, use a compatible RGB COB connector or soldered connection. Ensure the common positive, red, green and blue contacts remain in the correct order across every connection.
